Any sketch at SID

When there is a fifth Tuesday of the month we use any sketch that has already been posted at SID.  I chose a card sketch for this last creation for the SID DT.

I wanted a card that could be used for a birthday or any other special occasion so I used the sentiment Happy Day.  I used bright paper and a brown flower.  This also makes the card perfect for males.

So to see many different sketches and what the DT created with them you will want to go to SID.  It has been a pleasure to be part of the DT at SID during this past year.

More summer vacation photos scrapped

One more LO from Stuck Sketches for December 15th.

I had fun using this and that from one of my kits and other embellishments to create this LO.

I did not have any Christmas pages to scrap so I used photos from last summer's vacation.
I used red, green, and stars.

Christmas Eve gives me time to .....................scrap

I used some of my down time this afternoon to create a few LOs.  I was using the challenges from two scrap blogs that I love:  Kitchen Keepsake and Turtle Soup.

This first one if for the Gingerbread Pinspiration challenge at Kitchen Keepsake and the
Saturday challenge create your own layered border at Turtle Soup.

This second LO is for the Culinary Muse: Scrap outside your comfort zone at Kitchen Keepsake and for Scraplift Thursday at Turtle Soup

Thanks for stopping by and take lots of photos during your Christmas celebrations so you can scrap them!!

New challenges at Kitchen Keepsake

On the 15th of each month we have new challenges offered at Kitchen Keepsake.  You can see them all HERE.

My On a Roll Challenge is to help us celebrate all the Christmas trees that I see in everyone's windows.  Every where I go I see the green tree with lights and ornaments. For your challenge I want you to use some green on your page.  Also add some colors and embellishments to decorate your tree.   Your page does not need to be about Christmas, be sure to have a tree somewhere on your page.

I used photos of my son before he went to the prom.  I used green background paper and then lots of other patterned papers that had some green and other colors.  Some green 3-d blobs and twine.

Here is a close-up of my tree that is on the bottom right of my page.

To see this challenge and enter your LO go over to Kitchen Keepsake

One Fall Day

Here is my LO for the December sketch at Stuck Sketches.

These are photos from when some of our family got together on Columbus Day.  I loved these papers and embellishments that mostly came from a kit that I won last year at a scrap booking retreat.  I was so happy to be able to use it with these fall photos.

Here is the sketch I had to work with.

One more peek at the layering on my LO.

Stuck Sketches has sketches on the 1st and the 15th of every month.
You have until December 29th to enter their challenges.

Great Escape..................a summer tradition

Here is the Monday Sketch at SBC.

This simple sketch has lots of possibilities.  I used the 3 boxes from the sketch and added a banner underneath instead of having the boxes be tags.

Our summer isn't usually complete unless we visit the adventure park of Great Escape.  We go there almost every summer for a day.

I loved the hot air balloon embellishment that I found in my paper pack.  It is perfect for this page.

To see some other interpretations of this sketch head on over to SBC.  You have until the end of the month to enter the challenges.

December 1 is for more new challenges

At Kitchen Keepsake we have my On A Roll Challenge. I have seen lots of lights up in celebration of Christmas.  A few of my neighbors has their lights up since about the beginning of November.  My challenge is for you to create a layout that has lots of color on it.

  • Use paper with lots of patterns to show off your color.
  • Then add some hardware (paperclips, brads, etc.) to hold your page together.

Here is what I created.  I used the photo of the jars from my 50th birthday.

You can see my hardware in these two photos.

This challenge and many more await you at Kitchen Keepsake.

It is also sketch Monday at SBC.

I used a photo from my daughter's Ice Show last winter.

I had this patterned paper with the boots on ti and have been wanting to use it.  I fussy cut some of the boots out since they were perfect for this LO

I hope you have enough inspiration to get your week going.  Happy Scrappin' to ya'all!!

December is here

As our last month of the year arrives we have our last photo inspiration of the year for Pixels and Paper.  This month the photograph is a tribute to the aurora borealis (Northern Lights)

I had no snow photos to scrap so I concentrated on the sky.  It just kept drawing me in.  I used mists on my background paper to give it the colorful shimmer look.  I used the photo of our family about to go up in a Ferris wheel from this summer.  Then I added some colorful paper and the hot air balloon.  I used the string to give the page texture.

I love the shimmer of my "white space"

At Pixels and Paper we are happy to have traditional paper layouts, art journals, divided page protectors, smash books and more.  We also welcome digital entries.  We just ask that each entry be a new creation.

Enjoy September and Be Focused

The photo from Pinterest is the inspiration for the November Pinspiration Challenge at Kitchen Keepsake.

To create my LO I wanted to use fall elements.   I used this photo of my kids of their first day of school this past September.  I used fall colors.  I found the orange corrugated paper and lots of other scraps to layer under and around my photo.  I created a diagonal line of paint and little embellishments in the upper and lower corners.   I used some leaves.

I do love clustering as you will see below.

I also scraped the photo of me again for the sketch challenge at Kitchen Keepsake.

I love how you can create something entirely different with the same photo.

I used all these papers that had the same colors in them.  I sometimes like the monochromatic.  Here is the journaling.

There is lots of inspiration out there for inspiration.  You can find many blogs with scrapbook ideas and challenges.  This forum is one of my favorites.

Mom...................yes more of me

At Challenge YOUrself I must include myself in the LO so I have been taking many more photos of myself.  Challenge #12 is this sketch.

For my LO I used a photo that my daughter took of me sometime last spring. To preare the background of my paper I painted the middle of it white.  Then I layered my photo and some frames across the middle of the page.  I added some twine and other small textured embellishments and my title.

If you are like me you probably are taking the photos.  Well it is time for you to be in some of the photos.  Use your timer or have your kid take photo for  awhile and see what you get.  You can always ask a stranger to take a family photo for you.  Then drop by Challenge YOUrself and and enter one of their challenges.

A cake for being 50

I created my LO of the cake that my niece decorated for me for my 50th birthday for the Scrapbook Circle November Technique Challenge.  It is Embossing.  So I did lots of embossing for my page.  I embossed a piece of foil.  I roughed up all the edges of paper that I wanted to use on my page.  Then I inked all these pieces before I put them on my page.

I used lots of layering of papers and embellishments.

If you liek to emboss this may be a fun challenge for you.  To see the details go to Scrapbook Circle.

Stick it Down Double page LO for November

On this third Tuesday of the month we have our new sketch at Stick it Down (SID).
Here is the sketch.

This is what I created.

These are photo from last Christmas at my in-laws.  My husband and my son go their Hess trucks.  Each year they get one.  I think they both look forward to this tradition.  They take the trucks out of the boxes and play with them for a little while.
I used one of my kits that lots of coordinating papers and embellishments that were fun to work with

You can create a double page LO or just use part of this sketch.  there are also cards and single pages sketches at SID.

Sketch #421 at SBC

Here is another LO of my presents for my 50th birthday.

I used sketch 421 from SBC.

I only had 3 jars of goodies so I switched up the sketch a little.
