BAND

My daughter and her friend pose here after their Spring 2011 Band Concert.  I loved that they were both wearing black and white and used these colors as my base for my paper choices.  Then I splashed some other colors onto the LO.  I used the dual challenge form ScrapFit and The Paper Variety as my template for this LO.  The ScrapFit challenge is to use journaling and The Paper Variety challenge is a sketch.

Thanks for looking.

Boys and guns

What boy doesn't want a gun or to go hunting?  Well maybe there are some boys out there not interested in guns.  As far as my son...... that is what he thinks about most of the time. He has in his room a gun rack with some guns and a sword on it.  Since Connor is also interested in history he has weapons from the past as well as one gun he uses now.  I had him tell me what everything was.  I created this LO so that it could be remembered what was first on the gun rack.  It is based on the March 15th sketch from Stuck Sketches.  I am sure as Connor gets older the guns may change. His love for hunting will probably not change.

From top to bottom the weapons are:
a Civil War Sabre (sword) from grandpa Walrath
a 12 g. (guage) shot gun from grandpa Walrath
a World War II rifle
Connor's his own first gun, a 22 rifle.

Paper Variety and ScrapFit Challenges

I did a tic-tac-toe challenge from Paper Varieties.  My friend told me about this site and I finally made something to enter one of their challenges.  I used the bottom row of the tic-tac-toe grid.  I included sticthing (by hand), I created a layout, and I included a die cut (the christmas tree and candy canes).  I used a sketch that I found in my Jan/Feb 2012 Creating Keepstakes to hlep guide in in what to put where.

I also made 2 stick pins and put those on my LO.  I followed the Step Class #2: Make your own decorative "pins" from ScarpFit.  I set my glue gun up in the bathroom.  Since I have no outlet accessible in my scraproom/walk-in closet the upstairs bathroom is the closest place with the plug and a "counter"  My husband was wondering why the glue gun was there.  So I promptly expalined why I was using the glue gun in the bathroom.  I found some decorative metal brads that I hadn't used so I put the glue next to the hole in the back.  I used regular straight pins that I had in my sewing drawer.  They worked well.  I did try to scrape the drop of hot glue off the sink counter and burned my finger.  I later stabbed my finger, so that blood came out, when I was putting the, the pin into my journalling.  Here is a close up of my pins

It was a process and took some time, but the LO came out quite nice.  One more thing you may not have noticed, is the orange stripe in the coordinated green paper.  I found these papers with March shamrock paper.  Since it was mostly green and the greens matched I went for it.

One more ScrapFit Challenge

I created a few LOs yesterday.  This one was for the Weekend Warm-Up #25 from ScrapFit.  It is to use splattering or dripping and get messy on your page.  I used 2 different green paints to drip and splatter on my white cardstock paper.  I used an old toothbrush to splatter the paint onto the paper.  It may be hard to see in the photo below, but it is there.  I used a few scraps of paper that I had, a flower, a sticker, and some buttons to finish my page.  I stamped my title right onto the background cardstock.  I didn't want to do too much else because I wanted the paint to show.

SING

My daughter also participated in the All County Music Festival last February.  She sang in the elementary chorus.  Here she is in some close-up photos that I took of her that day.  I loved using the black spray mist on the white cardstock.  I have to admit that I don't have the color black so I borrowed some from my friend while at a Scrap N Chat day last weekend.

This LO was created from the sketch for Workout #63 - Sketch Workout With Our Creative Trainer from ScrapFit

All County Music Festival 2011

My son was been in chorus in 7th and 8th grade.  He is alwys sings and listening to music so it fits him.  last February he participated in the county wide music festival.  He sang with students from the area schools.  This LO was create using a photo I took on that day and the March 1st sketch from Stuck Sketches.  It is a bit hard to see becasue I used white paper for my background and it blends in with the webpage.
