I am joining Pixels and Paper DT

I am so excited to be joining the design team at  Pixels and Paper Challenge blog.  Pixels and Paper is an international challenge blog dedicated equally to those who like to work with paper and those who prefer pixels (and any who dabble in both). Each month there is a challenge inspiration from a source of paper and pixels - photography!

The August inspiration photo is below.

The part of the photo that I was drawn to was the colors of the wool on the sheep.  I wanted to use bright pastels in my LO.  I used the paper with the circles that had the progression of colors and matched the butterflies with the same colors.  This page is our family easter egg coloring.  It is a tradition to color eggs at my moms' with as many of the grandchildren as can attend.

I like to use pop dots to make some of my embellishments raised off the page.  The butterflies appear to fly upward on my page.  I used transparency hexagons as my title.  They tell how the kids enjoy easter egg coloring and look forward to what the Easter Bunny will bring at Grandma's house on Easter morning.  The colors were a perfect match with the butterflies and the journaling box.

The smiles on the faces of the kids show what a good time everyone was having.

Smile and Let's sail Home

The Monday sketch #404 for SBC was a double pager. I used photos from our April trip to the Skinny Pancake.  These photos are of my daughter as she waits for her food.  She would not look at the camera so I just kept taking photos until she did.

This second layout if for SID Tuesday sketch.  SInce it is the fifth Tuesday of the month it is choose a any old sketch that was you want to scrap.  So I chose this single page sketch.

Then I used some squares that I had for my background.  The 2 photos are from my kids ferry ride home last summer after they went to Boston for Catholic heart Work Camp.  They had a great time and my daughter went back again this summer.

So if you need a sketch to help you get motivated go to these scrapbook blogs for motivation.
SBC (Scrapbook Challenges) is open until the end of the month so you have a couple more days.
SID (Stick it Down) is open until next Monday so you have a week to complete this one.

SID Tuesday Challenge

Ok, one more post for today.  It is Tuesday Sketch Challenge at SID.  The sketch is for the double page DT members this week.

I had my photos from last summers's VBS (Vacation Bible School) week that I used for my LO.  My mom came one day and acted out the part of QUeen Esther fro me in my Bible Adventures group.  We had fun that day and all the other days.  I also used photos from the kickball game that my son and some of the older boys organized during snack time.

If you like to work form a sketch then SID is the place for you.  There are card, single page layouts, and double page sketches provided to give you inspiration for your next creation.  you can see all the details at SID.  So head on over and see the double page layouts made by all of our team.

Skinny Pancake with frames

We went to the Skinny Pancake restaurant in burlington, VT last April for lunch.  It is a crepe restaurant.  The food was yummy!  You order and pay at the counter and then the servers bring your food to your table. We were given #35 for our order.  I took these photos of my son while we were waiting for our food to be delivered.  My son was "playing" on his phone and then drinking his soda.  For the scrapbook blog Three or More  you must always use 3 or more photos.  Their July challenge is  to use frames on your LO.  I put a frame around my son in each photo.

Here are some epoxy stickers that I used near the bottom of my patterned paper.

I put the phone near the photo that had my son using his phone.

Here is a close-up of two of the frames.  It also shows the stars that I put on the page with pop dots so they were lifted off the page.

You have 8 days to join in with this challenge.

Order 35 and August calendar

At Kitchen Keepsake you will find challenges that are always fun.
This first LO is from the Skinny Pancake where we ate lunch over our Spring Break.  It shows 3 of us at our table with our #35 in front of us.  This crepe restaurant will be a place we will go to again.  This challenge was to use rainbows.  I didn't actually use a rainbow but used chevron  paper that had the rainbow look to me.

I used 2 different stickers for the title and then traced then with my back pen.

Here is one of the giant rainbow gems that  I put on the page with a pop dot.

To see more rainbow LOs go to Kitchen Keepsake.

This second LO is for the August calendar challenge.  It is to use bright summery colors.

I love using ribbon on my LOs.  I often staple it on my page.  I fold the ribbon and staple it in place.  It is as easy as that.

For this challenge go to Let's Dish Calendar Challenge at kitchen Keepsake.

Go Krista at SBC

Monday brings  sketch 403 at SBC.  I used Challenge #1 and doubled the sketch.  It was perfect for the photos of Krista playing softball.

I used mist on my white background paper and then added patterned paper on each end.  I loved doing the stitching on my page.  I did some before I put down my photos and lots after I had my photos glued down.  I used 2 different colors of thread and also different zig zag stitches.  Here is a better look at the stitching.

Here is the title and more stitching and a sticker star.

I loved how the LO all came together with the buttons, star stickers, arrow stickers, journal circle, and circle color wheel.  To see the sketch and find out more about this challenge head on over the SBC.

Road Trip via Scrapbook Circle

Today I want to show you a page I made from our trip to Vermont last April.  We took a day during our Spring Break to go to Burlington.  As usual we took the ferry from Plattsbugh to Vermont.  I took this photo with my iphone while we were riding on the ferry.  I used my Scrapbook Circle July kit for their Challenge #79 Typography.  I used the gray Polaroid looking paper down the center to hold my photo, a camera, and my title.

Below is my title "and so it begins Road Trip."

Here is the top left corner where I stamped  celebrate today and added the sticker special day.

Lastly this close-up shows the bottom right corner where I have the adventure journal card, the #2 as part of my journalling about riding on the ferry, and the word enjoy.

There are lots of words and phrases on my page to go along with this typography challenge.  If you wish to see the details go to the Scrapbook Circle blog.  You have until August 6th to enter.

It was Windy on top of the mountain

If you have been following my blog you know that when we went to Whiteface Mountain last summer I was not too keen on walking up the side of the mountain so I took the elevator.  The photo that I am showing off today is one that I included on a LO posted on my June 23rd blog.  On today's LO I am using the photo by itself.

It is the selfie that I took of myself while I was waiting for the rest of my family to reach the top of the mountain.  As you can tell from my glasses and hair the sun was shining and the wind was blowing.  I used the July sketch from Kitchen Keepsake and the color challenge at Challenge YOURself as inspiration for this LO.

Image

I spritzed my teal background paper.  I cut a square from some purplish textured paper.  I then cut rectangles from a patterned paper that had the colors from the color pallette and a plain gray piece of paper.  I layered these under my photo.  I added the ribbon near the bottom of these layers.  I used a canvas tag for my cluster and added a velum circle and a star on top of it.  I also added my journalling to a scrap piece of paper.  I used big white sticker letters for my title and some keys in a line under it all.  This photo shows the cluster and journalling.  You can also see that I inked the edges of all the papers I put under my photo.

I'd like to say that I had a great time on this day, but I would have to say it was a scary time for me.  After we drove back down the mountain we went to lunch and played min-putt.  These were the parts of the day that I enjoyed.

Quiet

One morning while stopping to pick up my nephew for school, at my mom's house, we saw this deer near her house.  It was in the small apple orchard that she has.  When I sat down to scrap these photos I decided to use all 3 that I had taken with my phone.  I used the July 15th sketch from Stuck Sketches?!  I chose a wooden tree and some leaves that had come in a kit that I had.

Studio Challenges also used this sketch with their July Colour palette.  I gave it a shot for both challenge with my LO!   Here is a close-up of the twine I used in the upper right corner and the rub-on I used on the left corner.

If you'd  like to see more from these challenges go to Stuck Sketches and Studio Challenges.  You will see what the DT members created and find out how you can win prizes from entering the challenge at each blog.

Pixles and Paper Challenge

I found another new scrapbook challenge blog.  It is called Pixels and Paper.  They have 1 challenge per month.  They post an image and you can use whatever inspires you about the image to create any form of scrapbooking and memory keepers that you choose.  Here is the July image.

Below is the LO that I created.  The first thing I noticed were the bright colors.  It was the reds and yellows that drew me in.  I decided to scrap some photos from last Easter.  Coloring eggs is one of our family traditions.  We often gather at my mom's house.  It is there that the grandchildren spend time together coloring eggs.

I started with some spotted paper to place my photos and most of my other embellishments on it. I then sprayed red, yellow, and rose mist on my yellow background paper. I put on some paper stripes behind and on top of my spotted paper.  I added the wooden circles some hand stitching on 2 edges of the paper and sewed the light bulb at the top of the inside spotted paper block.

 Here are a couple close-ups.

So there you have it:  my page that was inspired by the Ferris wheel.  Thanks for stopping by today.  If you want to go see the details for this challenge go to Pixels and Paper

Behind the Layout for SBC

Today I am going to share with you the steps for putting my layout for SBC sketch 402 together. When I saw that big circle I knew I wanted to make that a volleyball and create a page of my daughter playing volleyball.  I found my background paper which is a net.  I then went on the internet and found a drawing of a volleyball, made it the size I wanted, and then printed it out. I also wanted some small white volleyballs.  I used my cricut to emboss some white paper and then cut out some smaller circles.  Below you can see my background paper, volleyball, and my 2 small embossed circles.dscn0723at600
I had about 7 volleyball photos.  I chose 4 that I liked the best for this layout.  I cut these photos into 3X3 squares.  Now I had the basics that I needed for my page.dscn0726at600
I then moved the volleyball to where I wanted it and moved my photos around to where I wanted them.  I went back and tried several places for the 2 small white circles.  I decided to put them near the bottom right of the volleyball.dscn0728at600
I then find a journalling card that I liked and wrote my journalling.  I used some sparkly white letters to spell out volleyball for my title.  I found some string that was similar to the string lines of the volleyball net and added this to the left side of my page.  Since our mascot is the shamrock I drew freehand a shamrock and cut it out.  I added white paint to the edges and then put pop dots under it to secure it to my paper so that it had some depth to it.  Here is a  close ups of the letters, the shamrock and the string.dscn0731at300
Lastly I wanted some sparkle so I added some plastic discs.dscn0729at600

Here is my finished page.

I hope these steps have given you some ideas as to what you can do on your next LO.

What do I think of in Summer?
It is the sun! Usually hot and sunny. So I want to see you gals create a LO with sun as a focal point. You can put the sun on your page as an embellishment, show something you do in the sun. Just get some yellow on your page and let's see what you are doing outside in the sun.

My LO has my daughter and hubby after a round of golfing.  What is something that you or your family does in the summer sun?  Create a LO and come back here and let me know where it is so I can see it.  I look forward to seeing all the Blog Hop creations!!

CHWC for Kreative Koncepts

CHWC (Catholic Heart Work Camp) was the camp my kids decided to go to last summer and my daughter went back this summer.  It is a mission camp where catholic kids help the elderly with jobs around their homes during the day.  At night they worship and enjoy catholic traditions  It was certainly a week they enjoyed.  These photos are the group photos taken on the day of arrival and another day.

I chose the sketch from Kreative Koncepts Challenge #27 to create my LO.  To see this sketch and the details for their challenge click HERE.

You spin me round

Here is my LO with circles and also with my own patterned paper that I made.  It is my hubby and kids when we went to the PGA golf tournament last summer.  This was the beginning of the day when we got soaked. The day before we got sunburned.  Go figure.

The Southern Girls Challenge was to use circles.   I cut 2 different sized circles out of patterned paper and some white paper that I embossed to look like golf balls.
Here is a close up look of a couple of the white golf ball circles.

For the Kitchen Keepsake July Tips and Techniques I had to make my own patterned paper.  I used 3 different stamps and inks to make this paper.  I forgot to take a photo of it before I put it on my page.  But here is a close-up of it as best as I could take.

You may want to see all the visit the Southern Girls Challenge Blog or the Kitchen Keepsake Blog to see all their scrap booking ideas and challenges.  Happy scrapping to you today!
