Sketch 400 at SBC

Wow 400 sketches!!
If you need some scrapbook  inspiration Scrapbook Challenges is the place to visit.  They have a new sketch every Monday and other challenges to go along with it.  Here is the sketch.

400

Here is my take on the sketch.  I used the masking challenge for my LO.

I used 2 different patterned paper to add to my background paper.  I then cut arrows out of some scrap paper and used that as a mask so I could paint the arrows right onto my background paper.  I then added my photos, title, and some cork arrows and other cork embellishments.  I misted the tag and let it dry before I wrote my journalling on it.  I added a few other pieces of paper scraps near my tag and a pin.

Hubby and I for Challenge YOUrself

At Challenge YOURself the challenge is always to have you  in the photo.  For the June Challenge it was to have a "boy" with you in your photo.  I used this recent selfie I took of Kent and I in front of our cabin in the Adirondacks.  We spent the weekend there for educational Questing Workshop.  We learned how to use historical sites or just places in the neighborhood to give students more information about them.  It is  a great way to use maps, writing and history in a fun way with students.  I got eaten up by the black flies, but otherwise had a great time!!

You can enter this challenge until July 4th.  To get all the details to enter this challenge click HERE.

Challenge 26 at Kreative koncepts

I found this Australian scrap blog, Kreative Koncepts,   that has 2 challenges per month.  I decided to give this sketch a try.  I used the photo of my sister-in-law covering herself with a towel to keep the bugs away.  I used very straight lines on this one.

To visit Kreative koncepts and see this challenge, that ends tonight click HERE!   Remember to use bug spray this summer and that should keep the bugs away from you.

Whiteface Moutain

You may be sick of seeing my photos from Whiteface Mountain, but here we have another.  I used the Challenge #3 from Scrap and Play to create this one.  It is to use 3 things from the tic tac toe grid.  I chose: punch, mist or paint ( I used some of each) and chipboard. I used my circle punch for the brown printed circles.  I used mist on my background paper.  I painted my 3 chipboard circles near the bottom of the page and also put some pant on the edges of my background paper.

Wilder Farm for SID

This Tuesday at SID (Stick it Down) is double page LO week.  Here is what I created:

We visited Almanzo Wilder's home in Burke NY last September with cousins.  Then when we got there more cousins were there.  It was like having our own mini-reunion.  If you have read the Laura Ingalls Winder books then you know that she married Almanzo Wilder.  He just happens to have spent some of his childhood years growing up in the town about 25 minutes from my house.  It is a museum now and we like to go visit it every few years.  To see the sketch and enter the challenge at SID just click HERE.
They also have card sketches and single page sketches.  Check in every Tuesday to see what the sketch it.

Stuck Sketch for June 15th

Here is my take on the June 15th sketch at Stuck Sketches.  It is my family on the top of Whiteface Mountain.  I loved all these stars and sequins that came in a recent kit   I just used them wherever I could

Sketches from SBC

Here is my LO for Scrapbook Challenges Sketch 398. I used some photo from the beginning of our golf day.  You can see the family is wearing sweatshirts and jackets. We had 2 umbrellas to share for the 4 of us.  It ended up pouring and we got our use from them.

I sprayed my background paper and then used some coordinating paper from a kit, some buttons

Here is a closeup of my title and the button clusters.

For Sketch 399 I made a LO and a card.  This LO is from our trip to Whiteface Mountain.

It shows the selfie I took of my self after I rode the elevator to the top.  Kent and the kids stand next to the building once they walked up the stairs to the top.

This graduation card I made is for one of Kent's students who will graduate from High School next Sunday.

Thanks for looking.  To get all the details for this challenge and more click HERE.

Whiteface Mountain

These are photos from when we went to Whiteface Mountain last summer.  We drove up the highway and then I took the elevator to the top and Kent and the kids walked up.  I have walked up it before and it was too scary for me to do it again.

I used the June 1st sketch from Stuck Sketches?!.  To see this sketch and get the details for their challenge click HERE.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Sprays, Inks, and Paint

Here are step by step instructions on how to use mists and paint on your background paper to make it pop.
First I start with an old box that I put my paper into.  I want to be able to spray the edges of my paper and need to contain the spray from getting allover my work space.  I usually use plain paper when I want to add some mist, but you can use patterned paper also.   I choose 2 or 3 colors that will help accent my papers and photo.  I then spay with the lightest color that I want to use first.  If you want more of a mist then hold your bottle farther away from your paper.  If you want blobs hold the bottle closer to the paper.   These are the three colors that I used.  You should let each color dry before you use the next color.  This will prevent the inks from mixing and making a color that you do not want.

In the below photo you can see some tan that I sprayed onto my paper.  I sprayed it twice.

I next sprayed the turquoise mist.  I sprayed several times with the turquoise.
Once the turquois was dry I used the navy mist.  I sprayed the navy and then also unscrewed the pump and flicked some ink from the sprayer onto my paper to make little dots.  You can see both these colors and the little navy dots on the paper.

Once the mist was dry I added some paint with a small paint brush to some of the edges of my paper.  Here is a close-up of my top edge.  I used 3 colors.

Here is my final LO with my photo added to patterned paper, a title, buttons, ribbon, some chipboard that was already embossed and my date.

If hope you will use the mists and paints that you have sitting on your shelf.  They will add color and dimension to your paper.

Sketch 397 from SBC

At SBC (Scrapbook Challenges) there is a new sketch new sketch every Monday.  I used a photo of my mom for this sketch.  She came to help me with VBS last summer when I needed an extra "actor."  She was Queen Esther and read from her script to help me teach the kids bout the bible passage for that day.

I used lots of glimmer mist on my background and layers of paper.  Here is a close up of the bottom corner.  I had inked the edges on my paper layers.  Then sprayed glimmer mist over everything.  You can see where the ripped paper has curled up a little.
