Giving Thanks for friends and birthdays

These photos are from Krista's 13th birthday in 2011.  She has a bunch of freinds over and they had nice weather to play outside.  I fussy cut a flower out of the paper and put it on the page with pop dots to add seme height to the page.  You can see it close-up below.

I also had this pin that I wasn't sure how to adhere to the page.  I stuck it into a piece of ribbon so that I was able to easily attach it to the page.

I used Workout 81: I am so thnakful from ScrapFit.  I am thankful to get this last challenge done before 2012 ends.  I look forward to many more scrapbook challenges in 2013!!

13 grandkids

Every Christmas we gather at my parents' house to celebrate.  Depending on the travels of my 2 sisters we may celebrate on Christmas Eve, the Saturday after Christmas or even the Sunday before Christmas.  Part of the tradition is to take a photo of all the grandkids with grandma and grandpa. In 2011 both my sisters were home with their families.  This photo shows all the grandkids with my parents.  I used the December 15th sketch from Stuck Sketches for my LO design.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to scrap some of your traditions :-)

First day of school

Of 2011, that is.
My tradition is to take photos of my son and daughter each year before they leave for school in the morning.  These photos are usually taken outside, either in front of the evergtreeen tree or on the porch.  I take a photo of each child alone and then a photo of the two of them together.  This page will be for my son's scrapbook.  I have included the photo of him alone and one of him with Krista.  I used a piece of paper from a school pack I recently won for the background paper and some coordinating paper that I had from another kit.  I also used the big apple embellishment from the school pack.  I used Workout #82--Sketch by Diana from ScrapFit for my LO design.

My brother is gone, but not forgotten.....

These LOs were taken last august on the birthday of my brother.  The first are of his headstone.  I used the December 1st sketch from Stuck Sketches.

These photos are of the tree planted in his memory, by his coworkers.  I used skecth #238 from Creative Scrappers for this one.

Last chance to enter challenges

A few more entries for the month of November.

The first is a LO.  It has two photos from Ellis Island.  When we visited NYC last summer (August 2011) everything was peaceful, well the weather was peaceful.  No flooding or hurricaine was there then.  I can only imagine what some of the sights look like now after the disaster they experienced.
The city was very busy.  It was certainly busier than my rural town in northern New York.  Businer that what I am confortable.  These are some of the rare photos which include my husband and I.  I think my son was taking photos at this time.  I created this LO from Skecth #235 from Creative Scrappers.  I loved that I was able to use up some scraps and the burlap banner triangles.  They were all part of a kit that was almost all used up.

The second is this card entry.  It was created for Workout #80 from Scrap Fit:  Fall Color Inspiration.  The colors to use are wood, grass, and burlap.  I had this scrap piece of bulap that I had bought at the Dollar Store a while ago and thought how perfect to use it.  I used the choloclate paper for my wood color and found these embellishments that had green in them with a little splash of color.

Thanks for looking and we'll see what there is to do in December.

Manatee Park

The Warm-Up #33 from ScrapFit is SMEAR & SMUDGE SOME PAINT.  Well I certainly used some paint!
  • I used my new bottle of Gesso paint.  I had bought it a few days before.  I opened the bottle and poured some paint onto my cardstock.  I then used my paintbrush to move the paint across the paper.  I then had this idea to use some beads in the wet paint on one end of the pushed paint.
  • I let this dry for a few days (and I had to work at my real job).  Then I looked for some photos taken near water.  Well that proved more difficult than I thought.  I found this one from last April when our family went to Fort Myers in Florida.  The photo is mostly of the walkway with the water next to it.  My husband and kids are at the end of the dock.
  • I cut some strips of blue paper from my scraps.  I used several of my border punches to put a pretty edge on each of them.
  • I layered these strips behind the photo.  I got his idea from friend scrapbookers.
  • I added a title/journal box.
  • I wanted some other color so I added the two reddish birds to the bottom of the page.
  • Voila, my LO was finished.

Scrapping about Myself

I have begun to have my kids take more photos of just me.  This first photo I had my daughter take last summer (2011) so that I would have a new profile photo for my blogs.  It was a day when I had gone to get my hair trimmed and of course styled by my hairdresser.  I sure didn't look like this many days after that.  I don't know about you, but I can never get my hair to look quite like it does when my hairdresser does it.
I thought that my kids will want to remember what I looked like when I am old and gray (well maybe never gray........my hairdresser can always take care of that).  I used the November 15th from Stuck Sketches to create this LO.
This second LO is from my birthday in August 2011.  My kids made me a cake ( as they usually do) ane sang "Happy Birthday to You" to me.  I used Sketch #234 from Creative Srappers for my idea to create this LO.  I didn't include the photo of me in this LO.  I have the cake and my kids carrying the cake

More views from the Emprire State Building

The 2 LOs have photos taken from the Empire State Building.  The first page shows MY favorite store:  J C Penney.  I thought my kids would want to remember this when they are older.  LOL  I used the November 1st sketch from Stuck Sketches.  I used scraps of paper from various other pages I had recently (or not so recently since my desk is a total mess).  I fancy cut the swirl from some scrap paper.  I used the plane at the top to help show that the photo was taken high in the sky.  I then used some ribbon that I bought on sale recently.

I made this second LO based on Sketch #233 from Creatve Scrappers.  I cut the chevron paper so that it was jagged on each end and put it in the center of my background paper.  I added 2 photos, instead of 1 (didn't I tell you that I want to scrap every photo I take!!).  I added some circles from the coordinating kit and then added my title.  This page came together quickly.

ScrapFit Entries

I have a problem with wanting to scrap every photo I have!!  I used to just put photos into an albumn, but those days are long gone!  SInce I scrap mostly chronological I am working on photos from last summer.  The cool thing about this is that I get to relive those times over, whether they be silly, fun, or even serious.
The two LOs that I want to share with you today are for challenges on ScrapFit.  The first is for Workout #79-Tape it Up.  Washi Tape is the tape that is being used.  I used two different diagonal striped washi tape to form a background behind my photos.  I had this pinwheel that I had made for another page and I had never used it.  I just never seemed like it on a page.  I liked the way the blue in the pinwheel matched the blue in the washi tape so I added it to this LO to help make it more dimensional.  This photo is fromWestpoint.  This LO will go into my daughter's scrapbook.

This second LO is  for Step Class #10: Creating  a Layered Banner.  I used 2 banners that I had in one of my kits.  You put paint onto the banners and then wipe off the paint.  Some of the paint doesn't stick to the shiny patterns on the flags.  It was fun to make these banners.  I also used some colored twine to add another layer to my banner.  While the banners were drying I used several different stamps for my backgound to add some dimension to the plain paper.  I added my photos and some embellishments and the page was done.  These photos are of a Statue of Liberty motocycle that was made by OCC.

And more New York City

One more LO from Creative Scrappers.  This one is from sketch #229.  These 2 photos were taken in Times Square.

This second LO contains photos of my daughter at the American Girl Store.  This is the October 15th sketch from Stuck Sketches

More New York City

Here are some photos of Lady Liberty.  I took quite a few from the boat on the way to the island.  This LO was created from Sketch #228 at Creative Scappers.

With this next LO I also used Creative Scrappers for inspiration.  This is sketch # 231.  I tried to make my giant circle look like a camera lense.

Empire State Building

These 3 LOs I made while at the Scrapbboking reatreat last weekend.   I made about 17 in all.  The first shows a photo of what the inside of the Empire State Building is.  I used Sketch #230 from Creative Scrappers for this one.

This second LO has photos taken from the observation deck on the Empire State Building.  I used the October 1st sketch from Stuck Sketch to create this LO.

This LO has a photo that was also taken from the observation deck.  For this LO I used Workout #78-Sketch from ScrapFIT.  I know that the faces are very shadowy, but I liked the look.

Addicted to Scrapbooking

I have been getting ready to go on an overnight Scrapbook Retreat this weekend.  But before I could pack up all my supplies I had to get some challenges done that are going to end while I am gone!  Maybe that is a sign of my addiction to scrapbooking.  I made 9 cards for the (WCMD) World Card Making Day Challenge at My Sketch World.  I also made 2 LOs for ScrapFit.  The first is Warm Up #32:  Use Bows or Bows......or Both.  I used buttons.

This second LO is the Step Class#9 Paper Piercing.  I used my paper piercer to outline the top of my yellow rectangle.   Unfortunately you can't see it in the photo.  I also used my scallop punch to make the 2 scallops on my page.

I used the sketch 315 from Scrapbook Challenges for the dsign of each of these LOs.  I left a lot of white space and then sprayed wach with glimmer mist.  I used red on one and yellow on the other.

Stuck Sketch Challenge

My last post for the night is a LO for Stuck Sketches.  I used the September 15th sketch.  The photo is another one from our trip to NYC:  The Statue of Liberty.

ScrapFit Challenges

I also worked on 2 challenges from ScrapFit last weekend.
I did Workout #75  Trendy Twine.
This photo is of my kids at the railing at the top of the Empire State Building.  I wrapped some twine around my piece of paper on the bottom left corner square of my giant square.

This second LO is for Workout #76--Diana's Color Inspiration  The colors are navy, gray, and white.

Creative Scrappers Chalenges

This past weekend I got together with friends to work on scrapbook pages, visit, and eat.  I was able to get 2 LOs done for Creative Scrappers.  I was working on photos from our summer trip from last year.

The first is for Sketch # 225.  This photo was taken outside the Reception Center at Westpoint.

This second is for Sketch #226.  These photos were taken from the top of the Empire State Building in NY City.  This is one "View" that we saw.

Original Fort

Here are some photos from Westpoint Military Academy.  We visited the Academy last summer.  My son is interested in possibly going there for college so we wanted to visit it.
I used Workout #74-A Sketch By Diana from ScrapFit for this LO.

Beach

Here are beach photos from 2011.  They are of my daughter and some of her cousins.  I used Sketch #222 from Creative Scrappers for the LO design.  I had fun spraying my background paper to look a like water.  My husband saw the finished page and wanted to know if it had something spilled on it.

Got ya

You may think you just saw this photo....................well you did.  I used the same photo on this LO as I did for my LO of Love Ya.  Since I want both of my kids to have scrapbooks I have a set of books for my daughter and a set for my son.  This means that often I need to scrap the same photo(s) so they can each remember the event.  Sometimes I just make 2 identical or similar LOs.  other times, like this time, I use a completely different idea for my LO.  I used the Bonus Sketch #2 from Stuck?! for the placement of the papers and photo.
So I bring you the cousins from Colorado in this totally different LO.  I had the idea to use dripped paint and this really added a great background on the jean-like paper.
So go on and look back at the previous post and you will see the same photo in a whimsical look.

Love ya

This page I created from Sketch #220 from Creative Scrappers.  The photo is of my sister's 3 kids who were visiting from Colorado.  My sister comes to New York every summer.  She stays for a week and then her kids stay for a couple more weeks.  She remembers being close to our cousins growing up and she wants that for her kids.

70 years old

That is how old my dad was last summer.  Here are the cakes that we had for his surprise birthday party.
One photo of him, my mom and my siblings--- "Happy Birthday, Dad"
A second cake was a photo of my parents--"Happy Birthday, Phil"
On the third cake was a photo of the grandchildren with him and my mom---"Happy Birthday, Grandpa"

More photos from the Portrait Studio

Here is my daughter and son from the Portrait Studio.  I used the August 1st Sketch from Stuck?! to create this one.  I used more paper, washi tape, ribbon, and the butterflies from my FitKit.

Grandpa's 70th Birthday Party

We celebrated my dad's 70th birthday last summer.  It was  surprise party held at his favorite hunting camp-Weller Mountain.  My sister, Paula, flew in from Colorado with her family and stayed at my house overnight. My other sister, Patti, came from near Albany with her family and stayed overnight at my brother's house.  Then on the morning of the party we left at 9am to get there and set up.  I had not been to Weller Mountain in many years and had forgotten how long it takes and that much of the road is dirt.  It was a lot of work, but worth the surprise of my dad.
These 2 LOs were created from sketches from Creative Scrappers.  This first LO is sketch #221.
My daughter who had fun with her cousins.  Here she is giving her cousin "bunny ears."

This second LO is from Sketch #219.  It is my dad with one of his cakes.  We had 3!  I printed out a large photo of a cake and then painted some candles on the background paper.

Krista

This single photo is from the same day at the Photo Studio.  I used Bonus Sketch #1 of August 5 from Stuck?! Sketches.  They are celebrating their 5th Birthday so have extra sketches this month.
I did have a little trouble with my flash when I took the picture of my LO, sorry about that.

I Remember

Here is another LO I made with my FitKit from Paper Issues.  It is for Workout # 73 "I Remember" from ScrapFit.  I included photos of my kids, both teenagers, on this layout.  My whole title is I Remember when you were both so little-Mom.

I find it hard to believe that both my kids are now teenagers and both taller than me.

Doodling

Do you like to doodle?  I often doodle when I am talking on the phone.  Workout #30 on ScrapFit is to Doodle.  On my scrapbook pages I don't doodle too much.  I mostly outline a page, like a border.  That is what I did on this LO.  I used my new FitKit and a few other stickers to complete this page from last July 4th.

Today: Pool is gone!

Can you tell I have been busy working to get all the LOs done before the end of the month!  Since my sister was here from Colorado for a week all my "free time"  was spent with her and not in my scrapbook room.  So my last reveal for the night is Sketch # 216 from Creative Scrappers.  It is what the yard looks like where the pool used to be.  Boo Hoo!

Fabulous

Here my daughter plays badminton with her brother and her dad.  I used Sketch # 218 from Creative Scrappers for my LO placement.  It also is for the C'est Magnifique Kits, which is sponsoring this CS Sketch.

GIRL

Here is my daughter with her coaches for softball during her Spring 2011 Season.
I used Sketch #217 from Creative Scrappers
Too bad the Coach has his hand next to his face.  I don't believe he was picking his nose, but it looks like he is.  "Grandma," the coaches's mom was also helping a lot with the coaching.

Rock Climbing

My son went Rock Climbing at the nearby University last year.  The following LOs were created from his day.  I used brown, sage, and coral for the Color Inspiration Workout #72 from ScrapFit.  I used Sketch 304 from Scrapbook Callenges

I loved how it all turned out.  Thanks for looking.

Krista at NJHS

I found one more photo of Krista from the NJHS Induction.  I wanted to create a girly page for this and so I used the flowers as my focus.  I used flower paper and stickers to create this page for the ScrapFit Step Class #6.  It was to use the Negative Zone.  I used my octogon punche and cut in a row.  I them used the flower paper underneath.  I loved how it made the flowers pop.

Good-bye POOL

These photos are my husband taking the pool down.  I used some transparency for the Paper Issues challenge of I Can See Clearly!.  It is a square with circles in it.  I could have punched the circles out, but I left them there to add depth to my LO.  I overlapped the transparency so that part of each row covered some of the photos.
Well, I missed the deadline to enter their contest, but I still have a cool LO for my scrapbook.

Since the POOL is gone and we can't get another one can we get a volleyball net? PLEASE

Last spring we had to get rid of our pool.  The metal outside was at least 20 years old.  The liner was about 10 years old.  We had  a hole in the liner and the metalWe patched the metal and the liner and afte filling the pool back up with water we found another hole in the liner that just got bigger when we tried to patch it.  The kids begged for a new pool.  The answer was no, since they had not swam in it much the previous 2 summers.  Instead we got a volleyball net..............or as it so happened also badminton.  This LO was created from the ScrapFit Warm-Up #29

Stuck Sketch

Here is more of my daughter at her 6th grade graduation.  I loved the circles in the July 1 sketch from Stuck Sketches.  I had this big circlular embellishment that I had been wanting to use.  It was perfect for this sketch.

I blotted soem white paint near some of the circles.  Since it didn't really show up I got my blue paint out.  The blue showed up much better.  I also used my blue paint to freehand my title on my page.  I also used some white paint to go around the edges of most of my circles.  You can see a close up here.

I was all done the LO.  Then the next day when I went to put the LO away I thought it should have some depth on the page.  I decided it needed something to go with the graduation theme.  I made the graduation hat using a small square of black paper.  I put a brad in the middle and then wrapped some embroidery thread around the brad.  I tied it so that it would stay in place.

Thanks for looking.
